How to become a cleaner in Sydney with ProperLink

Cleaning work on ProperLink starts with an application, not a signup. Every cleaner is reviewed before they can take a single job. That review is why residents let you into their homes, and your profile inherits it the moment you're approved.
What you will need
Gather these before you sit down. The application at properlink.ai/apply asks for all of them:
- Photo ID and a clear profile photo. A passport is the cleanest ID option; a driver licence or Medicare card works too.
- Proof of your right to work in Australia. Australian citizens attach a passport or citizenship certificate. Visa holders provide their passport number so work rights can be confirmed, or attach the visa document directly.
- An ABN. You work as an independent professional, not an employee. The platform collects payment for you as your agent, so there's no invoicing to do, but the ABN is required and your tax and GST position rides on it. Registration is free through the Australian Business Register.
- An Australian police check issued within the last 12 months. Order it from any ACIC-accredited provider. Turnaround varies by provider, so don't leave it to the last day.
- Current public liability insurance. You'll be working in other people's homes, so this one is non-negotiable. Any insurer's public liability policy for cleaners is fine; attach the certificate.
- Bank account evidence: the account holder name, BSB and the last digits of your account number. This is verification, not payout setup. The actual payout account is connected through Stripe after you're approved, and it gates withdrawing your earnings, not accepting work.
None of this is exotic. It's the same set a serious cleaning business already holds.
What happens after you apply
Our team reviews your identity and eligibility information. If something needs a follow-up, say a clearer document photo or an expired police check, you may be asked for exactly that item. An application that doesn't meet the requirements can also simply be declined. Either way, the status page shows where your application is at any time.
Once approved, you verify your mobile number, finish your profile in the app, and you're live.
How the work itself runs
There are no shifts and no roster. You go online when you want to work. Jobs near you are offered with your earning for the job already shown, and the first cleaner to accept takes it — no bidding, no undercutting. You accept what suits you and skip what doesn't.
